After visiting Cockington Green we decided to stop by the Canberra Walk-In Aviary nearby and it ended up being a real highlight of the day.Our kids were 2 and 4 at the time and they absolutely loved it. You can walk through the aviary and feed rainbow lorikeets and other birds, which makes it a really hands on experience. The birds come right up to you which was so exciting for the kids and made the whole visit feel very interactive. It was also very affordable which made it an easy activity to add to our day while exploring the area. The aviary itself is not huge, but that actually worked well for us with young kids. It felt relaxed and easy to walk around without it becoming overwhelming. There were also some random chickens too which added to the fun.Overall it was a really lovely experience and a great opportunity to get up close with the birds. Our kids were completely fascinated and it ended up being one of their favourite parts of the day. I would definitely recommend it if you are visiting Gold Creek Village with children.

While on a weekend away to Canberra my son and I came across this little gem of a place. We love birds. We went in and it was the best experience. The staff were all lovely and it was amazing to see all the different types of birds, you can feed them with food they give you. I personally could have spent all day in there, watching the birds. It was wonderful.

Not too bad. Some birds sit up high and you can't feed them. Chickens are keen for worms. You'd probably spend about 30 mins here in total.

Lots of beautiful birds to see and interact with - and we came just in time for all the baby chickens too!Included with entry are some fruit and meal worms for the birds - they love the worms!!If you tap your arm, some of the birds will fly to you :DWill definitely come back the next time we’re in Canberra again!

This is a small aviary packed with lots of native birds especially parrots. Together with your entry fee, you receive some bird food which attracts the birds who may choose to land on your person or feed directly from your hand. Each visit buys a time slot during which you can be inside the aviary. It is a lovely experience for most people. You have to book early as it is popular and gets booked out. Can be crowded at times. The birds have grown used to visitors and can be bold at times. Toilets available. Level terrain and easy walking but gets hot. Wear comfy shoes, take water, wear hat, sunscreen. Parking is relatively easy around area.

A lovely experience to have. We have been visiting Canberra for many years but had never visited the aviary until last week. It was a great experience run by lovely people.Of course, you need to expect that the birds will literally flock to you because you have food (provided with admission fee) so you’ll need to be sensible when walk it around in there. It was a lovely experience for us.

No need to book. Lots of parking. When you walk in you can buy a bowl of apple slices and a container of meal worms. If you want extra food you can come back and buy more. When you walk inside the whole area is in the sun minus one seated spot. They have birds everywhere, some in the trees and others on the ground following you.Feeding the parrots is cute and some of them even sit on you. The little baby chickens are the absolute cutest but you aren't allowed to pick them up.Would seriously recommend!

I am deathly afraid of birds but held my poop together for the kids and it was worth it. I only screamed once as a bird flapped near me. They're all quite lovely birds. My 4yr old got bitten twice which was absolutely hilarious. The staff are great and keep it running so well.
